“The Room” is coming back to theaters, and oh hai, Mark

There’s a movie called The Room, which you’ve either seen and love passionately because it’s the best-worst movie, or you’ve heard of because people love it passionately because it’s the best-worst movie.

The film is from 2003, and loosely centers on a love triangle. It was written, directed by, and stars a guy named Tommy Wiseau, who is so legendarily bizarre that James Franco made a movie about the making of his bad movie. The Room is the truest definition of a cult film. And now, thanks to Franco’s The Disaster Artist, it’s coming back to theaters — at long last getting a wide theatrical release.

The Room will play in 600 theaters across the U.S. for one night only.

Fathom Events will release The Room at 8 pm on January 10th, 2018. Why a Wednesday night? Who knows! It only adds to the film’s mystery. According to The Hollywood Reporter, which broke the news, Wiseau — who is adorably excited by the wide release! — hopes he’ll be able to host a screening at The Hollywood Bowl on June 24th, which marks the 15th anniversary of The Room‘s release.

Also, there’s a super bonus awaiting fans at the screenings. No, it’s not spoons to throw at the movie — as is the cult tradition — but it *is* more original content from Wiseau and Greg Sestero, who plays the infamous Mark.
