5 Of Your Favorite Rom-Com Stars Have Movies Coming Out in 2023
New romantic comedies starring the likes of Kate Hudson and Jennifer Aniston are coming soon!
2023 kicked off with new romantic comedies from both Jennifer Lopez (Shotgun Wedding) and Reese Witherspoon (Your Place or Mine). It’s safe to say the rom-com is back.
Not that it ever went away… but it just took a brief hiatus. Harpers Bazaar even declared last year as the year of the “Rom-com Revival,” citing writer/director Mark Poole who said it’s due to the “intrinsic feel-good nature of the genre at a time when audiences are needing it.”
That said, the rom-com craze seems to be heading into this New Year full steam ahead. With that in mind, we rounded up five of your favorite romantic comedy stars and the new movies they have slated for an upcoming release.

1. Kate Hudson – A Little White Lie
Kate Hudson recently shared that one of the best hallmarks of a great rom-com is “an actually good story.” She would know —she’s made a career off of hit movies like How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days.
In this latest flick, due out on April 13, Hudson plays the organizer of a university literary festival, determined to put her event “back on the map.” She discovers a handyman (Michael Shannon) who she believes to be a famous writer who’s been missing for twenty years.
2. Rachel McAdams — Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret
The star of perhaps what’s arguably one of the greatest romantic movies in history (The Notebook), Rachel McAdams is back on the big screen for this iconic book adaptation.
McAdams plays 11-year-old Margaret’s mother in the film that’s due out in April.
3. Emma Roberts — Maybe I Do
This one’s already out in limited release, but worth a second look if you haven’t yet checked it out.
At first glance, the movie seems to be about a young couple (Roberts and Luke Bracey), but you quickly learn it’s the all-star cast playing the in-laws (William H. Macy, Diane Keaton, Susan Sarandon, and Richard Gere) that steal the show.
4. Malin Akerman — The Donor Party
This plot is so good, it’s hard to believe someone hasn’t thought of it before. Divorceé Jaclyn (Akerman) desperately wants to become a mom after running into her ex and his pregnant significant other.
The only problem? She needs a baby daddy, and hilarity ensues. This one hits theaters on March 3.
5. Jennifer Aniston — Murder Mystery 2
Jennifer Aniston has been referred to as the “reigning queen of rom-com.” Now, she’s back alongside Adam Sandler in Netflix’s Murder Mystery 2, the sequel to the 2019 film.
In this installation, Aniston and Sandler are full-time detectives struggling to get their private eye agency off the ground. When they travel to the Middle East for a wedding, the duo is forced to spring into action as the groom is kidnapped for ransom. You can start streaming it on March 31.
