Like a true American hero, The Rock had the best time celebrating his Razzie win for “Baywatch”
Listen, not every movie has some sort of metaphorical, deep meaning or represents the fall of society or whatever. Sometimes, movies exist just so audiences can laugh a little, and watch super attractive people hang out on the beach. Enter: Baywatch. The 2017 movie based on the television series of the same name didn’t quite make the mark it wanted to, but that’s okay. Why? Because The Rock celebrating his Razzie win for Baywatchis actually pretty hilarious andtotally relatable, and is making us completely forget about those not-so great reviews.
Some context: Not everyone can win an Oscar, and on Oscar Sunday, March 4th, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson took to Twitter to wish all his friends at the prestigious awards ceremony good luck. But that’s not all. The Rock also took the time to acknowledge his recent win at the 38th annual Razzie Awards, where the worst movies of the year are rewarded for being oh so bad. Yes, The Rock’s movie, Baywatch, which also starred Zac Efron, won a new award this year, the Special Rotten Tomatoes Award: The Razzie Nominee So Bad You Loved It.
Watch The Rock’s hilarious reaction:
It’s the #Oscars and Hollywood’s biggest night!
So let me go ahead and take this “L” right on the chin for Baywatch.
Win some, lose some.. but hey, that’s the way love goes. @RazzieAwards #Baywatch💩🥪 #AndTheWinnerLosesOn pic.twitter.com/2ICyzfVHSV— Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) March 4, 2018
“We made Baywatch with the best of intentions,” he explained, and even though the movie definitely received its fair share of criticism, it still seems as though people found it entertaining, and that’s (probably) how it avoided taking home any other awards, like Worst Actor or Worst Screenplay.

Obviously, Baywatch wasn’t going to score an Oscar nod for Best Picture, but in my humble opinion, it’s really not so bad. It’s pretty funny and with a cast including The Rock and Priyanka Chopra, Baywatch had its moments. And really, getting a chance to see The Rock laugh at himself for a while is truly what this world needs right now.
