The heartbreaking reason why Robyn had to cancel her concerts

This past Friday, Swedish pop star Robyn cancelled three concerts for a heartbreaking – but completely understandable – reason.

Last year, the artist’s producer and bandmate, 52-year-old Christian Falk, died after losing his battle with pancreatic cancer. Since then, it’s been difficult for Robyn to recover, especially since Falk helped produce several of her songs and was even a part of her band La Bagatelle Magique.

“It was much harder singing these songs on stage than I thought,” Robyn said in a statement, after performing at a Stockholm festival last month. “Even though it’s been a year since Christian passed, I’m heartbroken and performing them feels too heavy still.”

While she continues to grieve for her work partner and friend, Robyn won’t be performing at Allianz Parqu in Sao Paulo, Brazil on September 25; September 27th’s Rock in Rio festival; and the San Francisco-based Treasure Island Music Festival on October 17. “I’m sorry to disappoint the fans that have bought tickets to these shows and I will do my best to come back to San Francisco and Brazil soon,” said Robyn.

For fans who still want to enjoy her music, they can listen to the Love Is Free mini-album that she and remaining band member Markus Jagerstedt released last month. They’re also working on a new video, but – aside from that – Robyn wants to take a “clean break” so that she can grieve and work on new material.

To help the talented artist during this difficult time, make sure to send her plenty of positive vibes.
