Robert Pattinson revealed he was almost fired from the first “Twilight” movie
Back in 2009, teens around the world came to know Robert Pattinson as Edward, the glittery vampire who just wanted to love in the first installment of the incredibly successful Twilight movie franchise. He catapulted into stardom as fans and haters discussed whether they were Team Edward or rooted for his rival, Jacob. But all of that almost didn’t happen because Pattinson was almost fired from the first Twilight movie.
In a recent interview with the New York Times, Pattinson recalls his time working on the Twilight set and while many critics wondered if he would be taken seriously after playing the role, calling it the Twilight curse, Pattinson says it was “an amazing luxury.”
But, the 31-year-old actor also revealed that he was almost fired from the set, nearly robbing us of all our vampire dreams starring his hair and icy glaze.
Pattinson says he took the role very seriously, being one of his first big parts, and that got him off on the wrong foot with some of the producers, and even the story creator Stephenie Meyer.
“I almost got fired, the star revealed in a 2012 interview with Yahoo!. He continued saying he took his method acting so seriously, "I was fighting with everybody in control all the time… to the point where I almost got fired."
In an interview with MTV, Meyer shared that yes, she butted heads with Pattinson during filming saying, “With Rob [Pattinson], we sat down to talk about Edward’s character before we started filming. It wasn’t an argument, but we actually disagreed on his character. I’d be like, ‘This is how it is,’ and he’d be like, ‘No, it’s this way.’
Pattinson says his agents had to fly to the Oregon set where he was filming to straighten him out and get him back on good terms with everyone and Meyers says in the end, it was all fine.
“The funny thing about it was, here we are, arguing about a fictional character. Yet, in the performance, he did what he wanted, and it turned out how I wanted it.”
We’re personally very glad everything worked out the way it did for the movie franchise and for Pattinson. Because we honestly couldn’t imagine Edward any other way.
