“Riverdale’s” new Reggie just opened up about his first day on set in this adorable Tweet
Back in May, news broke that there’d be a new Reggie for Riverdale‘s Season 2, after actor Ross Butler left the show to concentrate on his other hit show: the forthcoming Season 2 of 13 Reasons Why. And now, Riverdale‘s new Reggie, Charles Melton, has tweeted about his first day on set, and we are seriously pumped to see what he’s got in store for us.
Riverdale‘s hunky new Reggie Mantle sent out the most adorable message about his new role, and we think he’ll be a perfect addition to the incoming junior class of Riverdale High. Over the weekend, Melton tweeted a description of his first day, saying: false
Though he’s acted before in small parts on shows like American Horror Story: Hotel and Glee, it seems like this will be Melton’s biggest role yet. The show’s creators want Reggie to be a much more central part of the story for the second season of the successful teen drama.
In late April, series creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa addressed the recast in a statement to TVLine, saying, “We love what Ross did with the role of Reggie [this season], but because of his commitments to other projects, we couldn’t use him nearly as much as we would have liked. [Next season], we want more Reggie on our show — he’s Archie’s rival!”
A BIG #Pussycat welcome 2 @_MELTON_ as #Riverdale’s sexy new Reggie Mantle! I can already tease…these 2 are TROUBLE. pic.twitter.com/0iXMBHSFxJ

"...because Ross is unavailable to come back to Riverdale, we’re looking for a new Reggie. Those are big shoes to fill, but we’re confident we can find an actor who is as funny and sexy as Ross. And of course we all wish Ross the best."
Season 2 of Riverdale premieres on The CW on Wednesday, October 11th at 8 p.m. ET, which is still so far away…but we’re happy to see the cast sharing photos from the set, and can’t wait to see how Melton (and the rest of the crew) surprise us next.
