Rihanna’s latest Fenty x Puma runway show is millennial-meets-’80s athleisure

If there’s any way to start a fashion show, it’s with motocross stunts performed over dunes of millennial pink sand. If there’s one thing Rihanna’s Fenty x Puma spring 2018 fashion show reminded us of, it’s that no one does fashion quite like Rihanna. While a presentation full of athleisure with a millennial-meets-’80s twist would have been enough to keep us on our toes, of course RiRi had to do more. She incorporated professional motocross stunts into her show as models paraded down the runway.

And what’s even more surprising? These professional daredevils were outdone by the collection itself. There were neon brights, like a corset dress with a buckled bodice, and reimagined SoCal classics with an urban twist. If there’s such thing as elegant athleisure, this is it.

We’re hung up on off-the-shoulder tops and dresses with contrasting stripes along the sleeves, french-cut bathing suits with lacing up the hips, and vinyl jackets in electric tangerine that were tucked into matching mini skirts.

Athletic staples like neoprene one-pieces showcased Rihanna’s impeccable touch, meaning color blocking, zipper detailing, and more. Keep in mind that motorbikes were doing out-of-this-world stunts as the models showed off lust-worthy look after lust-worthy look.

The footwear was also spot on. Rihanna’s classic creepers featured contrast banding and a high silhouette, and we spotted highlighter yellow mules in vinyl that are sure to make any outfit pop. Rihanna even reimagined the flip-flop and, dare we say, actually made it chic. With a stiletto heel and ankle strap, these aren’t your $1 Old Navy thongs.

The finale of the show proved how iconic Rihanna is: To collect her applause, the makeup mogul came out on a motorbike in an olive green look with corset lacing that was straight off the runway.

It’s Rihanna’s world and we’re just lucky to be living in it.
