S-O-S, please, someone help me because Rihanna is headlining the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show! News first broke on Sunday after the nine-time Grammy winner posted a captionless Instagram photo of what appears to be her hand hoisting an NFL football.
Within seconds, #Rihannasuperbowl was trending on Twitter and any rumors of Taylor Swift performing at Super Bowl XLVII were immediately squashed. Sorry Swifties, better luck next year!
A few hours later, Roc Nation confirmed the headlining news on Instagram. The record label shared the same image as Rihanna with the caption, “Let’s GO – @badgalriri @NFL #SBLVII @AppleMusic @NFLonFOX.”
“Rihanna is a generational talent, a woman of humble beginnings who has surpassed expectations at every turn. A person born on the small island of Barbados who became one of the most prominent artists ever. Self-made in business and entertainment,” Jay-Z said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
NFL Head of Music’s Seth Dudowsky also gave a comment to the outlet: “We are thrilled to welcome Rihanna to the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show stage. Rihanna is a once-in-a-generation artist who has been a cultural force throughout her career. We look forward to collaborating with Rihanna, Roc Nation and Apple Music to bring fans another historic Halftime Show performance.”
RiRi fans, including celebrities, are freaking out over the news.
