Rihanna and Gigi Hadid’s “white paint hair” might spark the most extreme hair color trend yet

Every February, the fashion world’s finest meet in New York in freezing cold temperatures to peep the upcoming fall fashion collections. I’m talking about New York Fashion Week—it’s all that anybody in the city can talk about right now. There are runway shows, exclusive parties and some majorly inspiring street style as far as the eye can see.

At the beginning of NYFW, Kayne West and his fashion show extravaganza at Madison Square Garden was all people could talk about. But Ye isn’t the only musician with a runway show this year. Rihanna wanted in, and debuted her Fenty x Puma collection yesterday, and everyone is loving the looks—both the pieces and how the models were styled.

RiRi made some major style moves in this show. Even though the collection is for fall 2016, the looks were fiercely ice cold. Most of the models—including Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid and Stella Maxwell—had their hair slicked back with white paint, and it looked as if they’d just come inside from a serious snowstorm. The look was topped off with black lipstick, a fitting choice as Rihanna’s collection is primarily black and white.

So is her sis Bella, and fellow models Imaan Hammam and Stella Maxwell.

“Rihanna had a very strong idea; she was like, ‘I just want to see white. I want it to feel like frozen,’” Yusef Williams, the runway show’s head hairstylist, told E! News. “It’s supposed to feel like this Arctic urban forest. We wanted [the models] to feel like a freeze happens as they walk out to the runway.” While the girls got a paint job, Ri opted for a simple black bob.

“We talked about so many ideas: It went from should we do a middle part, should it be straight, should it be black, should it be this, and we came up with this cool thing, which, at the end of the day, I think is going to be amazing,” Williams continued.

So, what do we think? Will this look catch on, or is it just for the world of fashion shows? It’s definitely too messy for everyday wear, but could be fun to rock for a fancy special occasion.
