Rihanna and Drake want you to “Work” on their new (collab!) single
It seems like we’ve been waiting a millennia for Rihanna’s eighth album (#R8), Anti, but we’ve finally got another taste: The sunny, “let’s make it work” single “Work,” featuring none other than Drake.
The two have collaborated before on Drake’s 2011 album Take Care. Coincidentally, Drake’s also supposed to release his hotly anticipated album, Views from the 6, sometime this year.
We can expect a video for “Work” soon — the two have reportedly already shot it, in Los Angeles’s Eagle Rock Plaza. DJ Khaled was on hand to confirm that Drake was indeed at some sort of video shoot.
As for the song itself? It’s a slow roll, a ballad that re-casts the two famous exes in a romantic narrative again. Both are high-powered superstars weighing their public expectations with their own private creative turmoil, but even without their specific kinds of problems, the feeling of negotiating or even neglecting a loved one because of everything else you’ve got going on is pretty darn universal.
We’ll be keeping an ear to the ground for any more Anti news. For now, you can only download or stream “Work” on Tidal, but for those of you not on the service, you can listen to a radio rip below.
