The hilarious (and empowering) way Rihanna made Anne Hathaway feel less insecure about her body while filming Ocean’s 8

Ocean’s 8 is already our favorite movie ever and we haven’t even seen it. Besides all the obvious reason why this film slays (female friendship, Mindy Kaling, Met Gala, etc.), Anne Hathaway shared an anecdote about her Ocean’s 8 co-star’s reactions to her post-baby body (specifically queen Rihanna’s reaction), and we are dead from yas’ing so hard at this story. (Women friendships forever.)

Hathaway told the story to Ellen DeGeneres, explaining that Ocean’s 8 was her first film after welcoming her son, Jonathan, in 2016 — and that she knows Hollywood puts unfair pressure on new moms to “bounce back” and lose their baby weight…fast.

“One of the lucky things about being in this business for so long is that I’ve really kind of come to terms with the pressure that you get to look a certain way as an actress and I don’t beat myself up about any of that stuff anymore," Hathaway said. "But after I had my son, the weight was really slow to come off and so I was a different size than I normally am.

Hathaway explained that she was kind to her body and accepted her postpartum weight. Even better, she soon discovered that her co-stars felt the same way.

“I walked on the set, and, you know, my weight’s a little up and I’m just aware of it. And I walk on the set and I’m in my jeans, and I’ve done my best and I’m going to love myself no matter what, and Sandy Bullock looks up and goes, ‘Looking good, mama!’ Cate Blanchett’s like, ‘Nice jeans, Hathaway!

“And then Rihanna looks up and goes, ‘Damn girl, you got an ass!’ And I, of course, freaked out and loved it so much. I was like, ‘Really?!’ And she goes, ‘You got an ass like me!’”

“It made me feel amazing!” Hathaway gushed. She also expressed how grateful she was “to be surrounded by so much love and understanding.”

And this is why women should be in charge of everything. Ocean’s 8 opens in theaters on June 8th, 2018.
