Everyone wants to be in the Rihanna and Lupita Nyong’o buddy movie, because duh
Yesterday, the internet basically exploded when Entertainment Weekly broke the news that the Rihanna and Lupita Nyong’o buddy movie, an idea that was popularized on Twitter, is actually, finally, thankfully happening. What’s more, Ava DuVernay is set to direct, with Issa Rae in talks to write the script. Once the news was out, DuVernay tweeted what everyone was, surely, thinking.
We deserve nice things. ✌🏾️https://t.co/VlbKhLNDIv

And she’s right! But, you know what would make this even nicer? Bringing some of the all-star talent who have already thrown their hats in the ring on board. They include…
RYAN PHILLIPPE
Referring to the “rich white men,” who Rihanna and Lupita’s characters could pull one (or two, or three, or more!) over on, per the tweets that lit this fire, the Cruel Intentions actor wrote:
i'm down to play the rich white men, jus sayin… https://t.co/wxClcRQtYM

TESSA THOMPSON
She worked with DuVernay on Selma, so this ~especially~ seems within the realm of possibility.
Yes! What A Time To Be Alive. Also, very much available for a cameo, ummkay. @ava, @IssaRae, @netflix https://t.co/mPv8WXPqif

GINA RODRIGUEZ
The Jane the Virgin star isn’t asking for much. Hook her up! false
DANIELLE BROOKS
We think a comedic touch would be a great addition to this scam movie.

LUVVIE AJAYI
Okay, Ajayi REALLY isn’t asking for much, and who doesn’t love (and need) coffee?
Hey @Ava @Lupita_Nyongo @IssaRae @Rihanna, can I enthusiastically fetch you coffee on the set of your movie? I'm available. #SeriousQuestion

I would *also* like to be in the Rihanna/Lupita movie. I am the girl who stays at home, because she is busy binge watching something

If Lupita needs a brother to stand in the background, holding a dozen laptop bags…holla atcher boy.

Point being, if you’re trying to be in the movie, looks like you’ll have to get in line because EVERYONE is trying to land a role, on screen or off. But, that’s a good problem to have, so we’ll just patiently wait to hear back as DuVernay and company sort through casting requests — and, let’s be real, internship applications.
