Aww! Rihanna gave the sweetest advice to Cara Delevingne
In case it wasn’t obvious: We are SO. HERE. for all of these famous female bestie fests. Beyond Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” vid, you can see examples of ladies looking out for each other everywhere in the media these days, from Anna Kendrick standing up for Mae Whitman to Beyoncé and Nicki Minaj raising the bar for #SquadGoals. And now we have yet another tale of women having each other’s back.
Having firmly established herself in the fashion world, Cara Delevingne’s film career seems to be going pretty swell, with supporting roles in upcoming films like Pan and Suicide Squad and of course, what’s sure to be a star turn in the film adaptation of John Green’s smash hit YA novel Paper Towns.
Though she entered the fame spotlight as a model, in an interview with WSJ, Delevingne made it clear that she’s not content to be a “model-slash-actress,” and described her modeling career as “feeling a bit empty.” However, when one of her first big movie roles ended up disappearing when the film got scrapped, Delevingne was “heartbroken,” saying, “with modeling, if someone else gets a job, I’m like, yeah, of course, there are so many better models. But with acting, you grow such an attachment to each role.”
So who did she immediately call after the bad news? None other than Bad Gal, ladyboss, and longtime friend Rihanna.
RiRi’s sage news for her distressed bestie: “Everything happens for a reason. You are going to call me back up in a week or two, and you are going to say to me, ‘You are right.’” And lo and behold: Weeks after that call, Delevingne landed the lead in Paper Towns. The best part: Delevingne was recommended for that role by one of the producers in the film she’d lost, bringing the cycle of emotions full circle.
It’s impossible to predict life’s twists and turns, but when you’ve got great besties on your side, they take the sting out of your disappointments, and psyche you up for the good to come. We hope everyone’s got a friend like Rihanna in their lives, and that when you’re down for the count, they remind you that everything’s going to be alright.
