Zoella might be the head honcho of a massive online (and offline) media empire that includes beauty products, homeware, books, and of course YouTube videos, but that doesn’t stop the famous YouTuber from being a human being.
In fact, Zoella, who is constantly speaking openly and supportively about her troubles with mental health and anxiety, has revealed that she turned down the chance to meet with a handsome member of royalty: Prince Harry.
Speaking to Cosmopolitan UK for their latest issue, the YouTube star, whose real name is Zoe Sugg, explained why she turned down the chance to join the dashing prince for tea (ooh, how British).
Zoella, who is the Digital Ambassador for the British mental health charity Mind, has made videos in the past about her issues with anxiety, and in the interview she explained what she felt had been the biggest help for her.
The British vlogger has amassed an incredible 11 million subscribers on YouTube, and her videos have been viewed over 800 million times. While she mainly posts videos lifestyle, beauty, and style videos, she’s also broached the topic of her mental health on her channel before in her 2012 video “Dealing With Panic Attacks and Anxiety,” which has been watched nearly 4 million times.
Zoe has previously explained how she doesn’t like to visit London due to her anxiety, and in the interview she explained how that one day she’d like to conquer her demons and visit Australia and New Zealand.
More importantly, however, she had this excellent thing to say about mental health:
Tbh, we totally agree. As Zoella says, it’s very easy to assume that because of a calm, collected, and pristine exterior that someone isn’t in need or struggling with mental health issues. Similarly, we agree that it’s important that people look after their minds.
