Yesterday, Disney Pixar released their latest trailer for the highly anticipated Finding Dory.

Obviously, we’re crazy excited for this long-awaited sequel to 2003’s Finding Nemo, but as /Film pointed out, we’re also intrigued by the idea that we may be seeing the first lesbian couple in a Disney Pixar film.

The women’s appearance in the trailer is very brief, and it’s not totally clear if they’re actually a couple or what their overall role in the film is. But even with this quick appearance, people have taken note!

Disney fan Matthew Gottula initially tweeted about this.

And other responses were equally excited after Gottula’s tweet.

Earlier this month, Disney fans started the #GiveElsaAGirlfriend movement, with the hopes of seeing more LGBTQ+ representation in their favorite animated films.

Even Elsa herself, Idina Menzel, thinks the movement “is great!”

So there’s clearly been a recent push and excitement among many fans to see a broader spectrum of representation in Disney films, and whether or not Finding Dory will officially be that film remains to be seen. Either way, we’re sure the ocean adventure will be a hit, and we can’t wait to get our eyes on it!
