Here's why Amy Schumer should totally be the next Bachelorette
Our best friend Amy Schumer (ok we don’t actually know her, but in our minds we are BFFs) made an appearance on this week’s episode of The Bachelorette, and it was beyond perfect. She was given the near impossible task of teaching all the single men who are vying for Kaitlyn Bristowe’s attention, a thing or two about stand-up comedy — and it didn’t really work. Like, at all. But it was super entertaining.
Our fave moment was when Schumer sat down with JJ, one of the bachelors who can’t seem to get his arrogance under control (he doesn’t seem to be trying either), and when he told her that he feels like he’s smarter than “90% of the audience,” she assured him that he’s in fact not. “JJ’s a sweetheart,” she said. “He’s just missing like, charisma, humility and sense of humor.”
Watch her gracefully shut JJ down:
Schumer’s appearance was seriously popular (for obvious reasons), her fans are now rallying on social media to get her to be the next star of the show — a rally we fully support. The Bachelor and The Bachelorette creator Mike Fleiss created a #draftAmy hashtag campaign to encourage the outpouring of social media love. This clearly means that the people in charge over at The Bachelorette are on board — at least with the positive press that Schumer’s hilarious appearance is generating.
Because we are so thrilled with just the thought of Amy Schumer potentially becoming the next Bachelorette, we came up with some reasons why we think the show should take a serious step and make it happen:
The show could really use some funny
We’re not saying all the contestants on the show are humorless, but in a lot of cases, they’re portrayed that way. So come on ABC, step up the reality comedy game with one of the funniest comedians in the whole entire world. Please?
Well, maybe. We don’t actually know for sure, but if in fact she IS single, being the next Bachelorette seems like it would be a fun thing for her to do (since she probably has TONS of free time), with maybe even potential for a love match — because love can happen that way, right?
She watches reality TV, so she gets it
She’s clearly a fan of The Bachelorette, she clearly loves Kaitlyn, so doesn’t that automatically mean she’d love being the Bachelorette? It would seriously be the best season ever.
People love her
She has her own show (Inside Amy Schumer), she hosted the 2015 MTV Movie Awards, she has over one million Twitter followers, and she’s basically taking over the Internet with her hilarious sketches. Pretty sure she is nailing this lovable thing.
That’s enough reasons, right?!?
Let’s do this, ABC!
