DCOM fans who absolutely loved the 2015 Disney Channel flick Descendants, be prepared — Descendants 2 has been announced to be released in 2017, and a recent teaser clip just came out that makes it look pretty darn cool. Especially with one pretty intriguing addition to the cast.

In case you missed it, the first film focused around the offspring of some of our favorite Disney villains, notably: Mal, the daughter of Maleficent; Jay, the son of Jafar; Carlos, the son of Cruella de Vil (who is ironically terrified of dogs); Ben, the son of King Beast and Belle; and Evie, the daughter of the Evil Queen. If you’re unfamiliar with the movie and wonder why the Beast is technically labeled as a villain, have no fear — his son turned out top notch. And while sweet, he did — you know — hold Belle captive for a long span of time. Can’t forget that.

Based on the teaser, it’s obvious that the new addition to the cast will be none other than Ursula’s daughter, Uma. And it looks like she’ll be positively frightening.

With those tentacles alone, we know she’ll really shake things up for the team. Uma will be played by actress China Anne McClain, who you might recognize as Jazmine Payne from the TV series House of Payne, as well as a few episodes of the Disney channel hit Wizards of Waverly Place. McClain is no stranger to the Disney franchise, having small bits on many of the channel’s big shows throughout the last few years, so we have no doubt that she’ll totally rock the role as the daughter of our favorite under-the-sea villain.

Just like the original Descendants, the sequel will be directed, producer, and choreographed by Kenny Ortega, who also worked on the High School Musical trilogy. With his talent, we know that this film will make DCOM fans quite proud.

Will Uma be as cutthroat as her infamous Mom? We can’t wait to see — next year just can’t arrive soon enough.
