Back in September, we got some bad news about the upcoming X-Men spinoff, Gambit. Director Rupert Wyatt left the project, putting it on hold and further delaying our chance to see Channing Tatum bring the beloved comic book character to life. However, fans can finally rejoice, because Doug Liman has come to the rescue, replacing Wyatt as director and putting the film back on track.

As for the film itself, we know very little. Channing Tatum will play Gambit, or Remy LeBeau, who possesses endless and powerful charm — so, kind of like Tatum in real life. Unlike Tatum, Gambit uses this charm to become a master-thief. However, it’s unclear how much the movie is planning to stick to the source material.

Gambit is set to begin filming in New Orleans, the Hollywood South, in March, and while no official announcement has been made, ComicBook.com speculates that the October 7, 2016 release date will be pushed back until 2017.
