Rick just made a HUGE confession on "The Walking Dead" and we've got feelings about it
If you haven’t watched the latest episode of The Walking Dead, get ready for lots of spoilers. While the episode was packed with lots of emotional punches — like, say a grave for Maggie, but don’t worry she’s not dead! — Rick also made a huge confession about Judith. This changes everything we know about Rick, and a lot about what Rick knows about himself:
Judith is Shane’s daughter, not his.
First of all, we know this is lot to take in. So, take a second. We knew Lori and Shane had sex in Season 1 and Shane might be the father of Lori’s baby. However, this is the first time Rick has said he believes that Judith is Shane’s daughter. This is a HUGE moment in the series.
The man behind Rick, Andrew Lincoln, knows that it’s a big moment, and that Rick has slowly been getting ready to admit this out-loud. Talking to Entertainment Weekly in a post-episode interview, he explains: “It’s a very important moment in understanding his psyche and going, ‘This is what I’ve been doing for the last two years. I’ve accepted the situation and I will accept the situation if it’s going to save lives and if it’s going to protect the people I love. I will take it.'”
Keeping a baby alive during the zombie apocalypse is not easy, and all this time Rick knew she wasn’t his? All of that struggle, and Judith is Shane’s daughter? We’re going to be looking at Rick in a whole new light from now on. Maybe we’ll have absorbed it by next week – at least, we hope so.
