In the first trailer for Stranger Things Season 2, we get a glimpse at Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer) wielding some serious weaponry, presumably as part of the continued fight against the threats of the Upside Down. And the way we see it, there’s something empowering about her taking an active role to defend herself and her community from the supernatural.

Dyer sees it that way too, because of her character’s specific circumstances.

“Personally, I’m not one for violence,” she told HelloGiggles at Comic-Con, “but I think when the situation calls for a little self defense…”

Hell yes! We certainly are.

But we won’t just see Nancy kicking ass and taking names. She’ll also be working through the events of last season.

“You find Nancy dealing with some guilt,” Dyer said of her character’s headspace at the beginning of next season. “In general, you find the whole cast dealing with what happened. A huge, crazy, traumatic event happened that they all experienced together in the first season. You find them all coping with it and figuring out where that leaves them and what to do about it.”

Moreover, “It brings them together, tears them apart, and as far as characters and relationships go, it’s been a lot of fun to explore with everybody.”

We like the sound of that, and look forward to seeing Nancy (and Natalia!) return to our screens when Stranger Things Season 2 premieres on Netflix on October 27th.
