Since you are a human and you are on the internet right now, it’s safe to assume that you have binge-watched Stranger Things Season 2 all the way through — maybe even more than once, at this point. Season 2 is pretty great, yeah? Yeah, it is. But if you ask the Duffer brothers, Matt and Ross, there’s one thing they’d change about the latest season — and it has to do with everyone’s favorite scruffy-looking police chief, Jim Hopper.

IMHO, Jim Hopper is pretty DAMN CLOSE to perfection when it comes to Stranger Things Season 2 — and if you need a reminder, here are 23 reasons why (you’re welcome). But through all his shining perfection, there’s one small thing the Duffers wish they had done differently with the character. Or rather, there’s one thing they wish Hopper had done that he didn’t get a chance to do over the span of the season.

And no, the big regret is not not hooking up with Joyce Byers, and it’s not that he gets into many arguments with Eleven. The Duffer brothers are upset that Hopper didn’t get a chance to punch anyone in Season 2.

Honestly, same.

Talking to HelloGiggles, the Duffers — who can’t help but gush about David Harbour, and once again, same —  have nothing but the utmost love and praise for the actor, and Hopper is very much Harbour.

“This [role] is his dream come true, honestly,” Matt explains. “[David] bemoans the type of male movie star [of yesterday]. Like, he misses the type of movie star, a male movie star that existed in the 70’s and 80’s. That’s why he was drawn to the character of Hopper. And really, he pushed us to make it more of that style of character.”

But, for everything he brought to the role in Season 2, “He didn’t get to punch,” Ross continues. “We’re gonna try to remedy this, that he didn’t get to punch anyone in Season 2. Which is really, my biggest disappointment.”

Because remember, Hopper gets to punch people in Season 1:

Netflix

“Then [for Season 3] when we combine that sexiness with punching,” Matt quips. “Punching bad guys. I think it’s gonna take [Hopper] to a whole other level, potentially.”

Is it getting hot in here, or is it just the thought of Hopper fighting for what’s right? Either way, here’s to Stranger Things Season 3.
