Saturday Night Live has been serving some hilarious sketches lately. But this cotton candy dance party SNL sketch is a whole new type of comedy.
SNL has struck comedic gold when covering political figures or real-life situations we’re all too familiar with (like that one Facebook friend who posts every single news article they see).
As much as we love a Kate McKinnon/Kellyanne Conway sketch, there are those SNL moments where you literally have no idea what is going on.
And this one is perfect.
Picture two S.W.A.T. members (Kenan Thompson and Beck Bennett) staking out a criminal’s apartment from across the street. All seems routine until the two men realize the neighbors (Chris Pine and Mikey Day) are engaging in a series of ridiculous but joyful activities.
First, eating delicious cotton candy while dancing all over the place.
Thompson describes the whole scene as having a “very innocent, 11-year-old, best friend sleepover” vibe.
Next, the neighbors put on a backpack fashion show.
At this point, these two seem completely crazy. Thompson points out what we’re feeling deep inside — they look like they’re having the time of their LIVES.
If you thought this skit couldn’t get any weirder, you are absolutely wrong. Things escalate BIG TIME.
The neighbors bounce around on exercise balls with Leslie Jones behind them, dressed in a zoot suit, snacking on a huge gummy bear.
Take that in. Take all of that in.
It becomes so insane that the S.W.A.T. team’s target joins in (at this point, we would, too)!
Thompson realizes it has been far too long since he had that much fun.
The next logical step is for the S.W.A.T. members to join in on whatever is happening at this epic apartment.
Now, it may be a stretch to see this segment as anything political, which has been SNL‘s strong suit lately. Instead, there is something so pure and uplifting about just being outright silly — whether on television or in real life.

Upcoming party (and life) goals = all of this.
