It’s a sad day for The Real O’Neals fans.

News broke on Thursday that the ABC family sitcom — which followed openly gay teenager Kenny (Noah Galvin) and his family — was cancelled after two seasons, and the cast quickly took to social media.

Matt Shively, who played Kenny’s brother Jimmy, thanked fans for their support of the show.

Mary Hollis Inboden expressed her gratitude for the love for her character, Aunt Jodi, and gave an encouraging message for the LGBTQ community.

Galvin took to Twitter earlier today to express his support for The Trevor Project, an organization dedicated to crisis and suicide prevention for LGBTQ youth (ages 13-24), during his time on the show.

The Real O’Neals put LGBTQ issues at the center of a network sitcom. Though the show is now gone, we’d like to see many more depictions like that!
