Our of dreams of returning to Monterey, California, have been shattered as Nicole Kidman recently revealed that there are currently no plans for a follow up to HBO monster hit Big Little Lies.

Kidman reunited with Moulin Rouge! co-star Ewan McGregor for Variety‘s Actors on Actors series and the two reminisced about their 2001 hit, opportunities in film, and working in television. (McGregor is currently starring in Season 3 of  Fargo on FX.)

McGregor noted the massive success of Big Little Lies and asked Kidman, who starred in and executive produced the limited series, if there would be a second season.

Kidman told her former co-star that there was always hope, BUT it looks like there won’t be any more Big Little Lies.

Not gonna lie, we’re crushed.

In the wake of the finale in April, Kidman told Entertainment Weekly that she would love to do a second season, where Bonnie’s (Zoë Kravitz) backstory would be explored, and added that there are still stories to tell about the women, whose secrets are yet to be fully revealed.

The finale left the series on a bit of a cliffhanger, with Detective Quinlan investigating Perry Wright’s (Alexander Skarsgård) death after the altercation with his wife Celeste (Kidman) and the rest of the ladies — Bonnie, Madeline (Reese Witherspoon), Jane (Shailene Woodley), and Renata (Laura Dern) — at the school trivia night. So, sounds like there’s plenty to dive into…

While Kidman said that nothing was currently in the works she did express interest in continuing the series, a sentiment most of the cast, including Witherspoon — also an executive producer — have expressed as well. Considering, we’re still holding out some hope that we’ll get to see Celeste, Madeline, and the rest of the gang together again!
