Memories are beautiful, beautiful things. The smell of snickerdoodle cookies may remind you of autumn, while a specific shade of blue can instantly transport you to your childhood bedroom. Then again, there is one specific topic that tends to bring up the best memories: Nickelodeon shows.
It would 100% make sense if this popular television network decided to change their name to Nostalgia because we love to reminiscence about the shows that delighted our past (and even current, tbh) selves. But, there is one thing we love even more: to see how much our fave Nick stars have changed. I mean, whatever happened to that one guy from Zoey 101?
If you, too, are overwhelmed by curiosity, then stay tuned…
Take two redheaded brothers with the same name, send them on some surreal adventures, throw in an eccentric family, and you have The Adventures of Pete & Pete. But, what ever happened to the two Pete’s (who, unfortunately, are not brothers in real life)?
Since their Nickelodeon days, they’ve both worked on various projects and – MOST IMPORTANTLY – they reunited to create a podcast called… The Adventures of Danny & Mike! On the podcast’s website, they wrote, “Well, times have changed and the guys are all grown up — but that doesn’t mean that the adventures have stopped!” Awww!
After her first day of junior high (which is hard enough), Alex Mack gets hit by a chemical plant truck, drenched in the top-secret chemical GC-161, and gains some super cool powers. Just your average Monday.
Following this supernatural time in her life, Ms. Oleynik went on to star in the The Baby-sitter’s Club and – of course – as Bianca in 10 Things I Hate About You. Most recently, she’s acted in Pretty Little Liars, Mad Men, and Hawaii Five-0.
It is very hard to say the name Kenan because there’s always that part of you that wants to add, “…and Kel.” Lucky for us, this dynamic duo has continued to grace our TV screens. There’s Kenan, who is a staple on Saturday Night Live. And there’s Kel, who’s played on shows such as Game Shakers and Wild Grinders. No matter what they star in, we’re always happy to see their faces – ESPECIALLY when they reunite on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Melissa Joan Hart is one lucky lady because she got to play Clarissa Darling AND Sabrina Spellman. In other words, she must have nostalgia coursing through her body.
Post ’90s, you’ve probably seen her on ABC Family’s Melissa and Joey (which ended this past August). You may have even bought her cleverly titled book Melissa Explains it All. But, what’s she up to right now? Melissa and husband Mark Wilkerson have created a clothing line called King of Harts. Mrs. Hart also takes the time to blog about her life and we are l-o-v-i-n-g it.
Lori Beth left All That in 1998 and, subsequently, stopped blessing us with her “Vital Information for Your Everyday Life” skit. Next up, she played Lydia on The Steve Harvey Show, did a memorable stint on Workaholics, and has participated in various other comedic projects. Oh – and she also officiates weddings on the side?
“I got ordained to marry my oldest friend and his now wife. People really loved the ceremony and told me I should do more of them! I write personalized ceremonies for each couple,” explained Lori Beth. “It’s really amazing to get to know new people and be part of such a special moment in their lives!” (We are currently making a note of this valuable information.)
DeSanto played The Midnight Society’s original member Tucker, who ended up joining the gang after his mom forced older brother Gary to bring him along. The actor then went on to star in Mean Girls – yup, he was the one who memorably asked Lindsay Lohan’s character, “Would you like us to assign someone to butter your muffin?”
Based on the projects she’s done since her Nickelodeon days, it’s hard to remember the time when Ms. Roberts played Addie Singer. Since her guitar playing days, Emma’s continued to shine in the spotlight on American Horror Story and – most recently – on Scream Queens. Still, we have to wonder: would Addie live-tweet using #ScreamQueens?
After navigating the halls of James K. Polk Middle School, Werkheiser has continued to perform on shows such as Greek, Criminal Minds, and Franklin and Bash. He’s also written music and works to spread all the positivity (see the above Instagram).
After mastering puberty, Josh Peck has gone on to earn a spot alongside John Stamos in the comedy show Grandfathered. He’s also starred on The Mindy Project and The Big Bang Theory, after playing the role of Matt Eckert in 2012’s Red Dawn.
As for Drake Bell, he’s voiced the character of Spider-Man for animated television shows and has continued to pursue his music career. Last year, he released an album called Ready, Steady, Go!, which is known for being recorded live and without autotune .
