Here's everything we know about Netflix's ~mysterious~ brand new show, "The OA"
Netflix is releasing a brand new show on Friday, but unfortunately, we don’t really have anything to tell you about it. In a completely unprecedented move for the streaming site, they’re dropping 8 brand new hour-long episodes of a show called The OA. It looks creepy and suspenseful. It looks a little bit like Stranger Things. And it most definitely looks like something we will spend the whole weekend binging.
The series was first announced way back in 2015 (omg, so long ago), and at the time, all Deadline could reveal was, “the show will have some mystery elements to it.” That’s it! Now four days before it drops, it’s still super mysterious and we need to know absolutely everything about it.
So you don’t have to, we searched the internet and here’s everything we can tell you about The OA:
1It was created, written by, and stars this fierce lady: Brit Marling. You might known her from her role in the UK’s Babylon, or that one Community episode she appeared in (where she played Page in “Early 21st Century Romanticism”). She also wrote and starred in two indie movies, The East and Another Earth. Get ready to start hearing her name a lot more.
2The show is being produced by Plan B (aka, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Anniston’s production company) and Anonymous Content (aka, the production company behind such shows like True Detective and Mr. Robot).
3This is literally the only tagline for the show: “The series centers on Prairie Johnson, a woman who resurfaces after having been missing for seven years. Blind when she disappeared, she now has her eyesight restored.”
4Um, the Instagram for the show is hella creepy.
5These are the only two pictures Netflix has released from the series:
6The landing page on Netflix doesn’t offer up much information either.
7Netflix’s tweets are a little…odd, but also HIGHLY INTRIGUING.
And that’s literally all we know about the show. TALK ABOUT MYSTERIOUS. Also let’s talk about how we’re already hooked on this, even without the heavy Stranger Things vibes. Is it Friday yet??
