Like many people on the day after the 2016 presidential election, Larry David went to work. Amidst the disbelief and grief that followed Donald Trump’s election, he began filming Season 9 of his hit show, Curb Your Enthusiasm. Yes, really — Day 1 was November 9th, 2016.
David’s wildly popular Curb Your Enthusiasm has had a sporadic run since it began in 2000. Season 8 aired back in 2011. Since then, he’s acted in a few roles, including a stint as Bernie Sanders on Saturday Night Live. It was probably nerve-wracking enough to return to set, not even considering the post-election blues.
But with one pivotal difference.
It’s hard to imagine anything being funny on November 9th, but they worked through it.
Part of the reason David is returning to Curb? The fans. Specifically, the ones who asked him nonstop about when the show would return to HBO.
Nice going, fans.
Though David is now 70 years old, he’s showing no signs of retirement.
And we’re prittay, prittay, prittay glad, because the world needs funny television now more than ever.
