We’re suuuuper thrilled to hear that Jon Hamm has landed his first regular TV role since Mad Men. And his role is part of a show we’ve been looking forward to for a long time.
Hamm will play the archangel Gabriel in Amazon’s Good Omens.
Since the casting for this much-anticipated adaptation has been ridiculously great so far, we’re not surprised by this news per se, but MAN. Could there be anything better than a six-part show starring David Tennant, Michael Sheen, and Jon Hamm, based on a book by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett?
If you read the books, you probably don’t remember the archangel Gabriel playing a massive role.
But never fear — there are plans to beef up the part, so we’ll get plenty of Jon Hamm. Apparently, Gaiman and the late Pratchett planned on involving the angels more deeply when they first envisioned a screen adaptation. In Gaiman’s own words:
We totally agree that they have to be there, especially if they have Jon Hamm’s face. Like, c’mon.
Gaiman, who is a showrunner on the adaptation, continued:
Um, we so agree and we’re so excited to see him in the role. Good Omens will land on Amazon Prime Video in 2019.
