We are 100% here for the "Golden Girls" edition of your fave board game, Clue
During an interview earlier this year, Betty White said that, if there ever was a Golden Girls remake, she wouldn’t want to sit on the sidelines. Katie Couric asked the Emmy Award-winning actress back in January how she’d feel about a reboot, and she replied, “I’d want to do it!” Unfortunately, we haven’t heard anything more about this, but we do have a slight bright spot on the Golden Girls front. There’s apparently a Golden Girls themed version of Clue coming out! Yay!
Per the USAopoly website, the game features a “custom illustrated game board, where players attempt to solve the crime of WHO ate the last piece of cheesecake, WHAT they left at the scene of the crime, and WHICH room they did it in.”
Lo and behold, the newest game to hit your coffee table:
The characters include of course Rose, Blanche, Sofia, and Dorothy, but also two gentleman callers, like Stan (remember the guy with the monkey?). And then there are the “weapons.” You’ll find fun things like an armchair, a bathrobe, a lipstick, and a kitten heel. So cute.
At $39.95, it’s a bit pricey, but if you’re a mega-fan it could be worth it.
If you’re loving this, they also have this cute little puzzle:
Betty White, who is the only living member of the principal cast, has not yet responded to the news. Will she play? We hope so!
We know we’re not the only ones who’d like to see this remake happen! While Betty seemed to be somewhat joking when she brought it up (“At 95 I’m sure they’d want me,” she said), we’d love to see this. Please, Betty! Please! Although, we totally respect show creator Susan Harris’ decision to let the series stay as is.
“We’ve always said no because Golden Girls would not be Golden Girls without that cast,” Harris told Entertainment Weekly. Sigh.
We might just go ahead and pick up this board game. It does look like a blast.
