The year was 2004. The season, 5. The episode, 2. 12 years ago, Lorelai Gilmore predicted the future

If you’re listening, Lorelai, you might want to go buy a ton of lottery tickets.

As it was brought to our attention by one super eagle-eyed Gilmore Girls fan (THANK YOU wonderful HG reader, Natalia Kobata!!), Lorelai makes a pretty lofty presidential prediction. Well, back in 2004 it was a lofty prediction, because back in 2004, Hilary Clinton was at the time only a Senator from New York —  she wasn’t a Former Secretary of State, or even a current Democratic Presidential Nominee yet.

But, somehow Lorelai knew she’d end up heading towards the White House one day.

The scene is this: Luke has been away from Stars Hollow for over a month, and keeps making false-promises to Lorelai to come home.

Lorelai doesn’t buy it, and keeps making jokes at Luke’s expense how he’s still probably not going to be home for days, and maybe even years.

That’s when she drops the Lorelai Gilmore joke to end all Lorelai Gilmore jokes.

Assuming it’ll be some time before Luke comes back to Stars Hollow, Lorelai quips:

OMG. Obviously, Lorelai is making a joke about like, Luke coming home in a decade. AND GUYS, A DECADE LATER, HILLARY IS RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT.

Luke eventually makes his way back to Stars Hollow a lot sooner than like, four months from now.

Also Lorelai can predict the future. She knew Hillary would one day become President (CROSSES FINGERS, THROWS A MILLION LUCKY PENNIES INTO A WISHING WELL, SNAPS A MILLION WISHBONES, BRAIDS THE HAIR OF A UNICORN, ETC).

Well done, Gilmore. Can’t wait for this to come true.
