Fire up the coffee maker — Lauren Graham has a great idea for a one-off "Gilmore Girls" movie
Quick pop quiz, Gilmore Girls fans! When is Stars Hollow at its coziest, dreamiest, and all around most gloriously idyllic? If you answered winter (because…duh), we have some amazing news for you. Lauren Graham is game for more time with Lorelai Gilmore, and totally down for another Gilmore Girls sequel.
While chatting on TVLine’s recent podcast, Graham let it slip that even tough there’s been a whole lot of back-and-forth talk about whether or not Gilmore Girls should return, if it does, she’s going to throw her idea into the ring. And she’s got a GOOD one. Rather than a new set of episodes, what about a Gilmore Girls movie? Even better, a Gilmore Girls holiday movie?
Yes, yes, yes, PLEASE. That could mean the return of the Stars Hollow militia reenactors, the winter carnival…and we’re not going to complain if maybe Max Medina’s car accidentally gets stuck in town again.
Plus, to borrow the words of our adopted TV mom, Lorelai, “everything is more magical when it snows.”
Not to get everyone’s hopes up even further, but Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer, did say that they are in some “very preliminary talks” with the show’s creators about another installment. A holiday movie sounds absolutely perfect and completely in line with what we expect comes next for our favorite mother-daughter duo.
Here’s hoping that those preliminary talks turn into something confirmed. In the meantime, we’ll be patiently drinking our Luke’s coffee and eating our Pete’s Pizza in spirit.
