This is awkward, but "Game of Thrones" totally copied a scene from "Shrek"
Warning, the following post contains spoilers for Season 7 of Game Of Thrones, as well as DreamWorks’ 2001 animated classic, Shrek. If you’re behind on Game of Thrones, or for whatever reason, *still* haven’t seen Shrek, turn and go back to your swamp.
Last week, during the latest episode, “Eastwatch,” Jon Snow was brooding cliffside when he had the encounter. of. his life. Freshly back from killing the Tarlys and a lot of Lannister bannerman, Dany and Drogon met Jon on the cliff and the King in the North came face to face with a dragon for the first time.
The scene was incredibly moving, but fans *kinda* felt like they’d seen it before:
Not to outright compare Jon Snow to Donkey but…
We love this for so many reasons. Jon Snow AND Donkey are continuously underrated, but guess what? They’re super important in the end! And while they’re both terrified of dragons at first, the duo end up being important allies.
But Jon’s big meet and greet with Drogon didn’t just remind us of Donkey and Dragon. It seems there’s only one way to greet a scary beast — err, children.
Their encounter also drew similarities to Hiccup and Toothless in How to Train Your Dragon:
As well as Harry Potter and Buckbeak’s terrifying first encounter in Prisoner of Azkaban:
Okay, okay, so Jon’s big moment with Drogon was *really* serious, if only because even though he doesn’t know he’s actually a Targaryen, Drogon totally sniffed it out. It’s, so far, the most concrete progress Jon has made in learning the truth about R+L=J.
But even Kit Harington couldn’t take it seriously:
Sometimes the internet really comes through when you need it to.
Now, all we need is Jon and Drogon to reunite beyond The Wall because it looks like the King in the North is going to need all the help he can get.
