You may have heard about a ‘lil ‘ol Game of Thrones theory that suggests Bran “Three-Eyed Raven” Stark could be the Night King. It claims that he went back in time, got stuck in the past, and — through his powers and the magic of the Children of the Forest — he became the ice-cold villain. Pretty crazy, right? Right! But if you’re on-board with the theory, we’re sorry to say we have some bad news.

Game of Thrones actor Isaac Hempstead Wright, who plays Bran, basically just shot it down.

In an interview with Vulture.com, Wright acknowledged that there are definitely parallels between the two mythical characters. But that doesn’t mean they’re literally one in the same.

Wright went on to explain that there’s a core difference between them: the Night King embodies evil, and Bran embodies good.

Even if he has been acting hella heartless lately. Remember how he treated Meera?

Accordingly, Wright is hoping to “find out cool stuff about both of those characters” in Game of Thrones Season 8. And we’re sure that’ll be the case because, you know, it’s the final season.

Maybe Bran isn’t the Night King (though, we’re not ruling out the possibility), but with the Great War in full swing, we’re sure that these two ancient beings will, at the very least, each play a very significant role.
