It certainly feels like eons since the last time we checked in with Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. It was actually 2015. The one-off Holiday episode aired earlier in 2016, and since then, we’ve been in a Sherlock drought. But it’s coming, and it’s coming soon.

So today’s friendly daily/weekly/monthly/yearly reminder that YES, more Sherlock is happening, comes to us straight from the BBC. They’ve just released the first ~official~ promo image for Season 4, and it’s everything we could ever want and more — actually, the MORE would just be the ability to watch Sherlock right now, but you can’t always get what you want.

*swoon*

While this picture is completely 💯…it also strongly hints at what’s going to go down between Sherlock and Watson when the series returns. If you remember at the end of Season 3 (or, ~Series 3~), Sherlock had just, undoubtedly, committed murder and was being sent away. And then he wasn’t sent away, because Moriarity made a surprise return, and England needs Sherlock to save the day.

But John might not need Sherlock so much anymore. He’s got Mary, and Mary’s pregnant, so he’s got way bigger things to think about that constantly babysitting Sherlock. Might there be trouble in 221B Baker Street paradise??

There’s no official date for when Sherlock will drop, whether on the BBC or stateside on PBS, but it’ll be ~sometime~ in early 2017. FINALLY, we’re in the Sherlock home stretch.
