Halloween still lasts for like, another 12 hours, but that hasn’t stopped the Walt Disney World Resort from getting into the Christmas spirit. Ahead of a brand new holiday show that will debut at Hollywood Studios later this month, Disney has now released an image showing that Sunset Blvd. isn’t the only thing they’re decking this year. They’re also decking the elevator shafts of Tower of Terror.
Before you start freaking out, the Tower of Terror we know and love is not changing (as far as we know). It’s not like we’re about to live through another Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: BREAKOUT, but this time in Florida. Rather, to really get into the ho-ho-holidays, Tower of Terror will just look a little bit cheerier, and not so dark and gloomy.
The new holiday show this year (replacing the gone, but not forgotten, Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights), Sunset Seasons Greetings, will transform Sunset Blvd. into a winter wonderland. Once the transformation is complete, let’s be honest, the haunted Hollywood Tower Hotel will look a little out of place.
So, it’s time for a holiday makeover.
That sure is…something.
One again, before you start freaking out about the exterior of Tower of Terror, this new look will be done through projectors — like the ones we see over on Cinderella Castle over at Magic Kingdom, and even in Hollywood Studios on the Chinese Theater. But the projections might be on all day…? And also it’s Toy Story themed…? Can you see it says The Hollywood TOY Hotel?
According to Inside the Magic, there will actually be four different, rotating projectors on Tower of Terror, including:
—Mickey and Minnie reminisce about hometown Christmas as a romanticized, Norman Rockwell-inspired scene changes from black & white to color.
—The Swedish Chef from The Muppets babbles in front of giant gingerbread houses.
—Olaf pines over his holiday wish and iconic music from “Frozen” plays as the scene transforms into a winter wonderland – complete with projected falling snow and dancing Aurora Borealis lights.
This new holiday show begins on November 9th, and runs through December 31st. Even if you can’t make it to the park in that timeframe, know you will 100% be seeing this on Instagram.
