"La La Land" director Damien Chazelle is working on a musical drama series for Netflix
Ooh la la! If you loved La La Land, we’ve got great news for you. There’s another musical project headed our way, and its from the mind that brought us our favorite Stone-Gosling film.
La La Land writer-director Damien Chazelle is bringing to Netflix a musical-drama series set in Paris.
Damien Chazelle knows music. He made a splash with 2014’s Whiplash, which offered an intense look into the world of competitive jazz and starred Miles Teller and J.K. Simmons. 2016’s La La Land was not only a love letter to jazz and Los Angeles, it also won him an Oscar for directing.
Now, Chazelle will executive produce (and direct a couple episodes) of a musical drama called The Eddy for Netflix. The series is set in Paris and centers on a jazz club and the people who keep it going. And did we mention it’s set in Paris? Yeah, we’re already in.
Here’s what Chazelle said about the upcoming project:
Currently, The Eddy will feature eight episodes, with Chazelle directing two. The show will include music from acclaimed producer Ballard, who you might recognize from his work with artists such as Michael Jackson and Alanis Morissette. So basically, the music will be on point. Thorne and Poul, meanwhile, will write and executive produce, respectively.
There’s no word on when The Eddy will be available on Netflix, but we are already singing with joy. While we wait, we’ll just have to watch La La Land again.
