"Big Little Lies" is *this close* to Season 2, and bless you, HBO
If you were left screaming NOW WHAT? at the end of HBO’s Big Little Lies, you’re not alone. While the show certainly wrapped up the major storylines of the season — like, who raped Jane, who was biting Amabella, and WHO DIES — the final shot of all the women together on the beach left us wanting more.
Thankfully, it sounds like HBO heard our cries, and they are inching closer and closer to bringing the limited-series back for another season. Because honestly, when you have the dream team of Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley, and Zoë Kravitz, you want more. And you want it now.
While Big Little Lies was based off of a one-and-done book by the same name, there are still a few things left to explore with these characters. The novel’s author, Liane Moriarty, is busy working on them right now, should HBO come calling.
If you’ve read the book, there’s actually a whole backstory just for Bonnie that we don’t see in the series (and better explains why she SPOILER ALERT pushed Perry).
Deep breaths, friends. The director of Big Little Lies, Jean-Marc Vallee, has already said he wouldn’t return to do a Season 2 of the show, but that doesn’t mean someone else couldn’t do it for him. TBH, we’re ready to volunteer to direct, and also produce, run the cameras, handle craft services, scout Monterey locations, should HBO need us to. Whatever the network needs for more BLL.
