Benedict Cumberbatch plays a Shakespearian villain in this "Hollow Crown" teaser, and we're officially into Shakespearian villains now
If we’re being honest, everything that Benedict Cumberbatch does is something we need to see ASAP. There’s just something about his charm, that intense (yet playful) face, and that deep, billowing voice that pierces our hearts. Not to mention…his incredible acting talent OF COURSE.
We just heard that he’s playing Richard III in PBS’s The Hollow Crown, and if you’ve always wanted to see him morph into a scheming Shakespeare villain, now is your chance!
The Hollow Crown is an installment in the BBC’s television adaptation series of Shakespeare’s historical dramas. And you can see the teaser now! It’s already looks compelling (who doesn’t love a good period piece? Those costumes! That old-timey dialogue!). Plus, Benedict looks pretty great, too — even though the character is not exactly a knight in shining armor.
This episode is actually airing on Christmas day, so it’s like a literal Christmas present directly from Cumberbatch!
We can’t wait for this, and we’re also thrilled that Cumberbatch will be gracing our movie screens many times in the next couple of years, from Avengers: Infinity War to his role as Thomas Edison in The Current War, and hopefully in Thor: Ragnarok as well! Because come on…it’s Sherlock, guys,
Seriously though, if you’re a big Shakespeare fan, then The Hollow Crown will definitely be up your alley — regardless of your affection level for Cumberbatch. From the look of the teaser, it’s definitely gonna be dark and full of spirited characters.
Bring on the holidays so that Cumberbatch covers our TV screens, we say!
