The musical TV moment might be over but, Ariana Grande reveals the message we need to hear from Hairspray Live! and we’re listening.

On Wednesday, NBC premiered another one of their live musical spectaculars and it was pretty amazing. This time the network performed Hairspray, the story of 1960s Baltimore teen Tracy Turnblad (Maddie Baillio) trying to make it as a dancer on TV and at the same time make moves in integrating network television.

In the live musical, Nickelodeon alum and “Dangerous Woman” singer, Grande played Tracy’s BFF Penny Pingleton and she totally nailed it.

Now that we’ve all watched — and will probably watch it again, because of course we tapped it — there is something Grande wants fans to know about a very important song within the musical called, “Come So Far (Got So Far to Go),” featuring Grande and Jennifer Hudson, who played Motormouth Maybelle.

“The message in the song is exactly what we need right now,” Grande told E! News before the show aired.

Fellow Hairspray Live! star, Kristin Chenoweth, who played the sassy and hardcore, Velma Von Tussle, agreed with Grande and her thoughts on the emotional and fitting song, which was performed as the cast took their bows.

“It’s just the most beautiful thing ever,” Grande added. And it was a beautiful show indeed!
