Westworld has its share of nude scenes, and to actress Angela Sarafyan, there’s a certain power to them. Sarafyan appeared as Clementine Pennyfeather, who was “one of the beautiful hosts found at the Mariposa saloon, perfectly attuned to the desires of the guests that step within its doors,” as HBO puts it.

And when asked if there was a moment in Westworld that made her feel especially empowered, Sarafyan recalled a nude scene she shot early in the production.

Not only that, but her experience has changed her perspective on nudity more broadly.

“That has altered the way that I see people, having seen so many naked bodies,” continued Sarafyan, whose other credits include The Promise and The Immigrant. “You just realize that in so many ways we’re similar, in all of our bodies. We might come from different places, but we’re the same.”

Moreover, her revelation has had a very unifying effect. “It’s like a very different connection to humanity that you feel,” she said. “It’s an interesting thing.”

Interesting indeed, and especially so considering that another significant nude scene just aired on fellow HBO drama, Game of Thrones, involving Missandei and Grey Worm. Sarafyan’s words definitely give some perspective on that, and beyond.

Westworld Season 2 will premiere on HBO sometime in 2018, and we look forward to seeing more empowering moments upon its return!
