We’re going to have to wait a fat minute for iZombie to return (the horror!), but thankfully Aly Michalka has some insight into what we can expect from Season 4 to hold us over.

At Comic-Con, Michalka — who will soon release new music with sister AJ — spoke with HelloGiggles about what we can expect from her character, Peyton, and her love interest, Ravi. Not to mention, she spoke to why she supports the on-again-off-again relationship, and what it means for people to know that zombies exist.

HelloGiggles: What’s ahead for Peyton on Season 4 of iZombie?

Aly Michalka: You’ll see Peyton throughout this whole season. I think that you’re going to see the Ravi-Peyton relationship come back. My first question for the writers and for [creator] Rob Thomas was like, ‘Is there any hope that Ravi and Peyton will get back together again? Because, I really liked that relationship.’ He was like, ‘Yeah, yeah. Don’t worry. It’ll happen this season.’ I was like, okay, thank God, because fans are losing their mind over that not being absolved, which I totally get.

I mean, it’s a little bit of a Ross and Rachel thing. Not that we’re anywhere near as close to being as fantastic and as iconic as Friends, but it is a little bit like, will they, won’t they? They’re kind of together. They’re kind of not. They’re together. They’re not — and that’ll just go on, I think, until eternity, until the show is done.

It’s interesting that this new season we start off a few months [after] where we left off, and that Seattle is a walled off city, kind of like West Berlin was. I think it’s going to be really cool. It’ll be different than what we’ve ever done in past seasons. Season 3 slightly changed, and I think Season 4 is going to be totally different.

Cat’s completely out of the bag: zombies vs. humans. It’s totally known. It’s on the news. Zombies are functioning in society and that’s just how it is. Like how they did it with True Blood, which I always thought was really fascinating. They were the first show to do that in that way. Full on acknowledge, okay, there’s this other species that is among us. Those first couple seasons, I think were really genius.

[iZombie is] parlaying into what’s happening in our actual society. What’s actually happening in the states right now, and what we’re going through. There’s a cool tie-in that everybody will really enjoy for this next season.

HG: That all sounds really exciting! And going back to the Ravi-Peyton relationship, what do you love about the two of them together?

AM: Maybe it’s because I’m married and I happened to marry my best friend who I’m also madly in love with. I think that Ravi and Peyton happen to be really good friends that get along really well and have the same sense of humor. [They] also happen to be attracted to each other, which I think is the best of both worlds. It’s what we all are looking for in this universe.

I think there’s multiple people out there for us, it’s just a matter of do you meet that right person at that right time when you’re ready to commit yourselves? I think that’s why I champion the Ravi-Peyton relationship. I just really like working with Rahul [Kohli] as an actor. We get along really well off set. We all get along really well as a cast. It’s not normal these days.

It’s nice to not dislike your cast, which you sometimes just get and that’s what it is. Any other job you might work with people that you’re like, ‘I have nothing in common with these people. I go and I do my job, and I go home and that’s it.’ It’s nice to have a connection with the people that you work with, especially when you’re working with them for like 14, 15 hours a day.

That goes for AJ as well with The Goldbergs. They all get along really well, and these are people that you’re going to know for years and will be at your wedding. That’s really special.
