Ever since we first heard about it, we have been absolutely counting the days until Winona Ryder’s new Netflix series Stranger Things. We now have an official trailer and boy does it measure up.

The series takes place in an Indiana town in the 1980s (way to recruit an ’80s icon to star in this!), and has been described as a “love letter to the ubiquitous cult classics of the ’80s.” Just from the foggy, suburban trailer we get Twin Peaks, Steven Spielberg, and The X-Files vibes.

The series centers around Winona’s character, Joyce, whose toddler goes missing. In the quest to find her child, Joyce discovers herself up against supernatural forces and top-secret government experiments.

The show was created by the Duffer brothers, the minds behind Wayward Pines, and we are all kinds of excited for their special brand of spookiness.

The series premieres on Netflix on July 15. Until then, we’ve got this trailer to study. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=
