If you’re a fan of handlebar moustaches, then you’re going to love the trailer for James Franco’s HBO ’70s porn drama The Deuce.

It was reported back in 2016 that HBO had ordered The Deuce to series. The show, which was written and created by David Simon — the man behind The Wire— is set in the 1970s and follows the events after the legalization and rise of the pornographic industry in New York. According to Variety, the show will explore “the rough-and-tumble world that existed there until the rise of HIV, the violence of the cocaine epidemic and the renewed real estate market ended the bawdy turbulence of the area.”

The show stars Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Franco, and from the trailer it looks like it’s going to have all the hallmarks of a good HBO drama: sex, violence, costumes, and some great acting.

Watch the trailer below.

Interestingly, James Franco will play not one, but two characters in the series, twin brothers Vincent Martino and Frankie Martino, who were both actually big players in the rise of the porn industry in the ’70s and ’80s.

The pilot episode of The Deuce was directed by Michelle MacLaren, who has also helmed episodes of Breaking BadThe X FilesWestworld, and The Leftovers.

Tbh, this sounds pretty exciting. And, as we learned from James Franco’s turn in gay porn drama King Cobra, the man knows his way around some of the…less savoury parts of the entertainment industry, so we know that he’ll be able to bring a good performance to it all.

The Deuce premieres September 10th on HBO in the US.
