Here's why we can't wait for Tracy Morgan's 'SNL' return
It’s been almost a year and a half since Tracy Morgan’s horrible car accident. Since then, the comedian has been on the road to recovery, looking better and better every time we see him. First, he made an emotional appearance on TODAY. Then, he presented the award for Best Drama at the Emmys. Now, Tracy is coming back in the biggest and best way yet: As a host of Saturday Night Live.
Tracy’s triumphant return is tonight, with musical guest Demi Lovato. He called studio 8H home for seven seasons, and since his time ended, he’s only returned to host once. When he did, he reprised the roles of Astronaut Jones and my personal favorite, Brian Fellows. Maybe he’ll even do Maya Angelou this time? It seems likely that Tracy will play at least some of those roles once again tonight. It’s practically guaranteed; it’s what the people want to see. The only thing we could possibly want to see more than a new episode of Safari Planet is a super meta/crossover sketch where Tracy plays Tracy Jordan, his 30 Rock character. Whoa.
We’re also really hoping some other SNL alums surprise the audience and join Tracy on stage. Because when a seasoned vet comes home to host, they always have something — namely, someone — up their sleeve. We wouldn’t be surprised if the likes of Tina Fey, Jimmy Fallon, Chris Kattan, Horatio Sanz, Will Ferrell or Cheri Oteri pop in to support and celebrate their friend.
Because that’s exactly what tonight is going to be — a celebration! Tracy made a miraculous recovery, and is blessed with the opportunity to once again do what he loves: Stand on stage and make people laugh. He’s been so grateful to everyone who has helped him through the last year and a half, and we can’t wait to turn the praise back on him. It’s really going to be a special night, and we can’t wait to see Tracy back in action!
To hold you over, check out these hilarious promos, where he unashamedly flirts with Demi.
And these, where he promises to get everyone pregnant. We wouldn’t expect anything else.
