'Toy Story' superfans created a replica of Andy's room IRL
How dedicated to Toy Story are you? Maybe you own a few Buzz Lightyear action figures that are collecting dust on your self, or have a stuffed Rex that’s tucked away in a closet. Maybe you’ve even got a cool Toy Story shirt that says something like “Al’s Toy Barn.”
But if you’re really dedicated to Toy Story, and are a true fan through and through, you take a spare room in your house and totally recreate it like Andy’s Room. Try explaining that to your family the next time they visit. Or, just tell your visiting family that you recreated Andy’s Room from Toy Story 3 for a project, and reassure them that the final product is going to be amazing.
As ThePixarist writes on their Tumblr — underneath the description that states they’re a huge Disney and Pixar fan, and a TS3 enthusiast — a few years back they decided to do a live-action recreation of Toy Story 3.
“When my friends and I began recreating Toy Story 3 in late 2011, we knew that we would have to create a full scale Andy’s room,” they write on their Tumblr. “I mean, let’s face it. You can’t successfully recreate Toy Story 3 without a realistic looking Andy’s room. It took about 2 years of work, but it was totally worth it. It’s the room that most of us grew up wishing we had. From the hardwood floor to the bright white woodwork, it’s all there.”
And when they say, “it’s all there,” they mean EVERYTHING is there. They recreated the artwork on Andy’s wall, including the notes he has on his white board. They painted shelves to match the exact color scheme of Andy’s room, and made his same headboard. The best thing might be the wagon toy chest that was first seen all the way back in Toy Story 1 — you know, the one Woody gets banished to after Buzz Lightyear shows up.
“So yeah, a lot of work went into recreating Andy’s room. But you know what? My friends and I enjoyed every single minute of it,” ThePixarist writes. “The extra work really paid off. We can’t get over how great it looks on film.”
Check out the final product at The Pixarist’s Tumblr page, and prepare to be awed.
You guys are making Buzz and Woody proud.
