'Girls' is getting 'The Simpsons' makeover and we're freaking out
When you get to experience something amazing, you want all your friends to come along, right? Well, it looks like that scenario is happening for one of our favorite friends, and now the worlds of The Simpsons and GIRLS are colliding. Lena Dunham booked a guest role on an upcoming episode of The Simpsons, and now according to Entertainment Weekly, her GIRLS co-stars are coming along, too.
In the season 27 premiere of The Simpsons, Dunham plays a “young, funny pharmacist named Candace” who Homer Simpson meets while he’s filling a prescription. At the time of their meeting, Homer and his wife, Marge, are going through marital issues, and that’s how Candace comes in to play.
Candace will be a love interest for Homer (?!), but she won’t be playing a version of herself, or Hannah Horvath. “[She’s] that funny, intellectual, slightly awkward, endearing tone that everybody’s familiar with, so we were just writing it with [Dunham’s] voice in our heads,” Simpsons executive producer Al Jean told Entertainment Weekly. It’s a good thing they snagged their dream girl for the role — the episode’s even titled, “Every Man’s Dream.” And yes, Candace has some tattoos.
But what about the rest of Dunham’s friends? As for Allison Williams, Zosia Mamet, and Jemima Kirke, they’ll will play — who else? — Candace’s friends, of course. “We’re having a GIRLS reunion, even though GIRLS is still on the air,” Jean joked. It’s never too early to have a GIRLS reunion if you ask us.
Entertainment Weekly also gave us a quick look at what our girls will look like when they drop into Springfield, and they look amazing, naturally.
The 27th season of The Simpsons will start on on September 27th. I know, it seems so far away. In the mean time, we can imagine just what kind of trouble Hannah, Marnie, Shosh and Jessa will cause in Springfield. Is it too much to hope that The Simpsons then head to Brooklyn?
