The "Stranger Things" kids got HUGE raises for Season 3 — enough to buy Eggos for all of Hawkins until literally the end of time
After defeating the Demogorgon, a pack of Demodogs, and trapping the Mind Flayer in the Upside Down, our favorite Hawkins residents are in need of *serious* pay raises. And come Season 3 of Stranger Things, that’s exactly what they’re going to get.
Considering the series is one of Netflix’s most commercially successful — the popularity of the show prompted the streaming platform to partner with a number of brands for various merchandising ventures — and critically acclaimed series, it’s no surprising the cast is looking for a major payday.
With production on the third season of Stranger Things set to begin next month, the cast has renegotiated their deals with Netflix — and according to The Hollywood Reporter, the kids’ new deals has them earning twelve times more than they made during Seasons 1 and 2.
As is common with ensemble series, the salaries were negotiated in tiers, with Winona Ryder and David Harbour making up the top tier, earning a reported $350,000 per episode. This is a major increase from their previous respective salaries of $100,000 (Ryder) and $80,000 (Harbour) — but is not totally surprising considering the acclaim they’ve garnered during the first two seasons.
Making up tier two are the “kids” of Stranger Things: Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, and Noah Schnapp. They’re set to make $250,000 an episode, which is a massive pay raise, considering they earned somewhere in the $20,000 range during Seasons 1 and 2.
Now, that’s a lot of rounds of Dragon’s Lair.
While Millie Bobby Brown is technically one of the “kids” of the series, the clear breakout star is reportedly in a tier of her own — and is thought to be making somewhere between her adult costars and the kids. Falling into the third tier are the “teens” of Stranger Things: Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, and Joe Keery, who will be seeing $150,000 an episode.
The third season of Stranger Things, which is set to land on Netflix sometime in 2019, will follow new “forces of evil” that will forever plague the unlucky heroes of Hawkins.
And there’ll be some new faces joining our heroes in the fight against said evil. Maya Thurman-Hawke is set to join the cast as Robin, who “seeks excitement in her life and gets more than she bargained for when she uncovers a dark secret in Hawkins.” The third season will also see the return of Lucas’ sister Erica (Priah Ferguson), and more from everyone’s favorite bromance, Steve and Dustin. But, like seasons before it, we’re also looking at at least one major death. *Sigh*
Hopefully these major pay raises mean Steve (and Dustin’s) hair will look like Farrah Fawcett perfection in Season 3. Not that we really have any doubt.
