Attention, please: Disney is opening a "Star Wars" attraction *this year*
We are still a very long way away from the opening of Star Wars Land. The bi-coastal expansion at both Disney World and Disneyland is slated to open in 2019, and seeing as how we’re only halfway through 2017, we’ve got some time to kill before we can blast off to that galaxy far, far away.
In the meantime, how’d you like to experience a virtual reality Star Wars experience in say, like four-ish months?
Coming this holiday season, Disney, Lucasfilm, and tech company The Void will be bringing “Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire” to both Downtown Disney at Disneyland in California, and Disney Springs at Disney World in Florida.
According to the press release posted on StarWars.com,
Yes. Where do we sign up?
From the release, it sure sounds like you will be able to hear, see, smell, touch (and maybe eat?) whatever is inside of this experience. From the one released concept image of Secrets of the Empire, it sure looks like you’ll be transported to Mustafar — aka the lava planet where Anakin Skywalker lost his legs, and where Darth Vader built his castle — along with Rogue One’s K-2SO. And, ahem, seeing as how we know how the events of Rogue One turn out, this experience will probably take place before the battle on Scarif.
There’s no word yet on where the experience will take place at the respective Disney parks, or when it will open, or if it will be a separate admission ticket. But aside from all of that, start getting excited.
