It feels that since she decided that she wanted to be a fully fledged popstar, Sia has only gone from strength to strength. While we were HUGE fans of her earlier, slightly more subdued material, we love the soaring melodies and huge production of her more recent albums. Similarly, it seems that the enigmatic singer has bagged herself the song of the summer with the infectious “Cheap Thrills,” which also gave Sia her first Billboard number one.

Being a creative juggernaut like Sia means that there’s no end to amount of music coming. It was only in January this year when the singer released This is Acting, a collection of songs that she had written for other artists but then ended up releasing herself.

So imagine our surprise when we awoke to find that Sia had just released a brand new track.

Titled “The Greatest,” the track is a collaboration with the ever brilliant Kendrick Lamar and, we have to say, it’s rather special. Much like “Cheap Thrills” the song has a tropical-tinge and, of course, a really, really big chorus.

What’s more, Sia has shared the video for the song, which features the ever talented Maddie Ziegler, who was last seen in the video for “Big Girls Cry.” Directed by Sia and Daniel Askill, the video opens with the the mysterious tag “#WeAreYourChildren” before we’re introduced to Maddie who proceeds to dance around what looks like an abandoned house flanked by a troupe of dancers of all ages.

The video ends with Maddie crying with rainbow smudged under her eyes and down her cheeks.

One user on Twitter pointed out how the video incorporates elements from Sia’s previous videos that feature Maddie, including “Chandelier,” “Elastic Heart,” and “Big Girls Cry, as well as “Cheap Thrills.”

Of course, Sia doesn’t feature in her own videos after making the decision that she didn’t want to show her face due to her distaste for fame and her reluctance to be recognizable.

Despite this, the singer has decided to head out on a North American tour, which kicks off this Saturday (September 10) in  Cleveland, OH.

It’s unclear whether “The Greatest” is a stand alone single or part of a bigger project. Regardless, the song is really great, and we love the uplifting sentiment about overcoming obstacles.

Sia’s “The Greatest” is available to download and stream now.
