Meet the newest member of Sandra Bullock’s growing family: 3-year-old Laila

One of our favorite Hollywood moms, Sandra Bullock, is now the proud matriarch of a family of three! According to an exclusive interview in this week’s issue of PEOPLE (featuring a cover and family photos shot by Bullock’s boyfriend, model and photographer Bryan Randall), three-and-a-half-year-old Laila – pronounced Lila/LYE-la – is the newest member of the Bullock family. She joins Sandra and 5-year-old big brother Louis, who Bullock adopted in 2010.

Bullock fostered Laila, who is from Louisiana, before the adoption. Of the experience, Bullock told PEOPLE, “When I look at Laila, there’s no doubt in my mind that she was supposed to be here. I can tell you absolutely, the exact right children came to me at the exact right time.”

Bullock also added that while the adoption process wasn’t easy, Laila and Louis have since formed a tight bond as siblings and Bullock is invested in making sure Laila knows she is loved, safe, and wanted. “My family is blended and diverse, nutty, and loving and understanding,” Bullock also stated. “That’s a family.” Um, if this past Thanksgiving taught me anything, it’s definitely that. Preach, Sandy.

Bullock is no stranger to 2015 PEOPLE covers. Earlier this year, when she covered the magazine as its World’s Most Beautiful Woman (well deserved, as she is absolutely stunning both inside and out), Bullock had some real words to say about beauty – namely, that the standards placed on women are outrageous, and that she actually considers her day-to-day role as a mother to be the biggest source of beauty in her life. She also added that the best compliments she hears are from little Louis who, when he asked about her wrinkles and Bullock told him she has them from laughing so much, he touched her face and told her, “You’re not old. You’re just happy.” SO SWEET.

We couldn’t be happier for Bullock, Louis, and Laila, and wish them all the best in their future family adventures.
